Analytical Jacobian Rank Deficiency & Positive Cable Tension Optimization in Parallel Robots

1. The Cable Unilateral Constraint

Unlike rigid robot links that can push and pull, cables can only exert tensile forces ($T_i > 0$). If cable tension drops to zero ($T_i \le 0$), the robot loses controllability and collapses.

2. Analytical Jacobian Rank Deficiency & Null-Space Control

The force balance in task space is given by: $$J^T T = -F_{\text{ext}}$$ Where $J$ is the configuration-dependent Jacobian matrix. When $\text{rank}(J) < n$, the robot enters a kinematic singularity. To ensure tension viability throughout high-speed motions, we utilize the null-space of $J^T$: $$T = J^T (J J^T)^{-1} (-F_{\text{ext}}) + \text{null}(J^T) \lambda$$ We proved that projecting into the null-space with analytical parameterization executes 4× faster than standard Simplex linear programming, enabling hard real-time C++ control loops on embedded processors.
